MORNING

SAVOUR SINGAPORE’S MOST CELEBRATED DISHES (TOUR)

Book a four-hour Chinatown Food Walk tour by Betel Box Tours, where visitors will take a walk down Chinatown’s alleyways, famous for street hawkers who whip up iconic local dishes. Visitors will be able to sample local delights. Some examples of local food would include kaya (a traditional jam made from coconut and eggs) toast, chicken rice and chwee kueh (steamed rice cakes topped with preserved radish), and learn about the meaning and history behind each dish. They will be brought through the process of how chefs source for ingredients and prepare them in accordance to family’s secret recipes.

PICK UP TRADITIONAL FOOD
SOUVENIRS (SHOP)

After the tour, shop around the streets of Chinatown for food souvenirs to take home. Lim Chee Guan, sells savoury bak kwa (barbequed meat slices) in flavours such as prawn and chilli pork. Visitors can also treat themselves to egg tarts from Tong Heng, arguably one of Singapore’s most famous egg tart shops.

AFTERNOON

HAVE AFTERNOON TEA AT NATIONAL KITCHEN BY VIOLET OON
(DINE)

Take a break from the fast-paced morning at National Kitchen by Violet Oon. Local chef Violet Oon is renowned for her culinary skills in Asian cuisine and was even conferred two Lifetime Achievement Awards by the World Gourmet Summit. At her restaurant, visitors will be treated to dishes with a Singaporean twist such as the Otak Crostini, spiced fish quenelle served on a crostini.

STROLL THROUGH THE CIVIC DISTRICT (EXPLORE)

Visitors can venture through the Civic District and Marina Bay area to view iconic architectural structures such as the Marina Bay Sands® and Victoria Theatre & Victoria Concert Hall. The nearby Esplanade Park is home to historical landmarks such as the Lim Bo Seng Memorial.

EVENING

DINNER AT THE WORLD’S FIRST MICHELIN-STARRED PERANAKAN RESTAURANT (DINE)

Head to the quaint and tranquil Dempsey Hill for dinner at the world’s first Michelin-starred Peranakan (Straits-born people of Chinese and Malay/Indonesian heritage) restaurant, Candlenut by chef Malcolm Lee, who serves traditional Straits-Chinese cuisine with a contemporary twist at his restaurant. Menu highlights include homemade kueh pie tee (deep-fried pastry cups filled with shredded turnip) and ice cream with chilli. After dinner, visitors can head to the nearby RedDot® BrewHouse for refreshing craft beers.
